Intro to My Professional Learning Network
When I first read the words "professional learning network" I wondered if it was just a new name for professional development. I did a quick google search comparing the two. What I have learned from that search is professional development tends to refer to a one-size-fits-all direct instruction happening to teachers. Professional learning, however, engages teachers in authentic, valuable learning experiences. A Professional Learning Network (or PLN) will help me to establish myself and grow as a professional educator because I will be actively engaged in my learning. The way I hope to accomplish this will be through interacting, collaborating, inquiring, and reflecting with other educators. I can easily get a jump start on my "teacher toolbox" by connecting to educators on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogs, podcasts, and Pinterest.
